Vulnerable Witness Support Programme

The Vulnerable Witness Support (VWS) Programme in the Family Justice Courts (FJC) is a partnership with the Singapore Children’s Society (SCS) to provide emotional support to vulnerable litigants and witnesses during a Personal Protection Hearing. Victims and/or children who have experienced or witnessed family violence may experience anxiety, fear and even re-traumatisation when giving evidence in court.

The Volunteer Support Person (VSP) plays a neutral but supportive and calming presence to the vulnerable litigant or witness by accompanying them throughout the hearing process. These specially trained volunteers from SCS are screened and cleared of any criminal records by the Supreme Court before they could undertake this critical and sensitive role.
